Villaputzu is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Cagliari in the Italian region Sardinia, located about 45 km northeast of Cagliari. It is located in a short plain created by the Flumendosa's mouth, next to the Sarrabus hill.

Villaputzu borders the following municipalities: Armungia, Arzana, Ballao, Escalaplano, Jerzu, Muravera, Perdasdefogu, San Vito, Ulassai, Villasalto.

Villaputz and the Sarrabus are considered the birthplace of the launeddas musical instrument.

Very interesting and rich cookery heritage with is culirgionis (local ravioli), is malloreddus (short sardinia gnochi shaped pasta), roast meats and fish, tipical desserts such as is pardulas, is pabassinas, amaretti and local cheese. A particular mentioned is deserved by the sweetest citruses of which the town is proud.
