(St James's Tower) - The recent work of
valuable restoration has given full emphasis to the Gothic inspiration of
the octagonal tower which rises on the boundary of the actual Lungomare
Colombo.
Built in the 15th century it was flanked on the right to the
Bastion of San Giacomo and on the left by the bastion of the Misericordia.
Also called "torre del cutxos" (dogs' tower) as in the past stray dogs were
enclose therein, it rises in front of the 17th century church of Carmen. |
