"Holidays by the sea" is the password at the Hotel Punta Negra with its wonderful location on the Punta Negra promontory behind Fertilia in the direction of Porto Conte. The scent of oleanders lines the road that runs parallel with the ancient Roman bridge, still pointing the way to the Bay of Nymphs, the main settlement in ancient times, well-sheltered from mistral winds.

The Hotel Punta Negra is very easily reached, thanks to good roads and short distances: Alghero town centre is a few Kilometres away, the village of Fertilia just 200metres, the airport 5 Km, Porto Torres harbour 25 and Sassari the main provincial town 30 Km. At the same time nature clearly predominates in the area with a nature park running along the coast for 18 Km from Fertilia to Capo Caccia.

Built low and with the large terraces typical of Mediterranean architecture, the hotel fits comfortably into the natural surroundings. It directly overlooks the sea and a beach of white sand enclosed by cliffs, which provide on arrival the colours and emotions of the sea of Sardinia, unique in the whole of the Mediterranean. In the background there is the splendid view of the gulf and tourist harbour, with the old centre of the Catalan town of Alghero, rich in colour and fascination.

The Hotel Punta Negra spreads over the cliffs on three levels: the ground floor is divided into one wing housing the spacious lounge, bar and with adjacent kitchen, and another comprising the rooms; the other two floors are entirely devoted to rooms (half of the 90 rooms, all with terrace, face the sea, the other half overlook the splendid pine-woods). The hotel has 90 double rooms, all with air-conditioning, small fridge, colour T.V. and private bathroom.

The hotel's special characteristics enable it to remain open for five/six months in summer. Redecorating it has meant above all refurbishing the interior, now in the common areas there is a gentle play of delicate colour alternating between the shades of pink and sea-green of the spattered walls, matched with pink ceramic floors with a decorative frieze; furniture and table linen are of the same hues.

On the upper floors we find brick flooring, with furniture and doors revealing three different colours (red, green and natural); curtains and upholstery show the decorative motifs of Sardinian handicraft. Work on engineering aspects has been significant and has brought the hotel up to current standards; the cooling/heating system of the common rooms is now operated from the floor to avoid condensation phenomena due to air-conditioning.
