Porto Ottiolu, North East Sardinia
The
picturesque harbour of Ottiolu is situated between San Teodoro and Budoni, on a surprisingly suggestive stretch of coast, behind the hills which descend slowly towards the sea. What is now a small pretty Marina was once used by the romans. Even older are Porto Ottiolu's origin which go back to the nuragic era. The area is central to most famous (but not necessarily more beautiful destinations such as San Teodoro and Costa Smeralda (San Teodoro is only 4 km and Costa Smeralda 30 mins drive).
The main beach just south of the harbour is white sandy, to the north rocky shore hide some amazing little sandy inlet
which can be reached through narrow dirt track which lead to Punta Li Turchi, famous point of attacks from barbarians in the Middleages.
