Orosei is situated near the the sea between Dorgali and Siniscola. It is the largest town on the Baronia south side. River Cedrino and the mount Tuttavista are the physical borders for this area. Orosei old town centre still shows buildings and and architecture which prove its
past. Orosei today is, even one of least spoiled areas in the east coast, even it tourism is still the main of economy, apart from local crafts which are exported worldwide. You can find the most spectacular contrast between mountain and coast scenery, specially between the towns of Dorgali and Calagonone: driving between these
two towns you experience of driving through a tunnel in a mountain ending in an breath taking view of the coastline below. The beaches around this stretch of coast (Calagonone) are hidden and can be in most cases only reached by boat. The rock mostly found on this coast is calcareous.
This type the rock has formed itself over thousands of years, into huge grottos such as La Grotta
del Bue Marino and others, opening into the sea.
