GENERAL STANDARDS AND
DESCRIPTIONS - SELF CATERING
Having such a varied selection of holiday properties, standardisation of
fittings and fixtures is somewhat self-defeating. However, all our
apartments and self catering meet a certain "general standard" with regard
to basic amenities, which include all general kitchen appliances and
equipment, i.e. cooker (which may be a 2/4 ring hob with separate
grill/oven), refrigerator, crockery and cutlery. Even so, it must be
appreciated that although you are likely to find items of equipment uncommon
in British kitchens, you may well find certain familiar items missing! i.e.
kettle, tea-strainer, British-type teacups and egg cups, and although this
is Italy, in some houses the owner may not supply stemmed wine glasses. You
may feel you would like to bring some of these items yourselves. Above all,
it must be understood that we are unable to guarantee "home from home"
comforts.
Allowances must be made for Italian plumbing, electrical fittings which may
look somewhat different with wiring fitted to local standards, hard beds,
soft beds, and a Sardinian taste in furnishing and décor, a taste which may
not be yours. Cots may vary in style but do conform to European Standards.
If something goes wrong a small repair may take a little longer than we are
used to and should not be allowed to cause irritation. Also remember that
electrical goods and appliances are fitted to local safety standards - in
some cases what we may describe as "unsafe" is quite normal and should be
treated as such as it cannot be changed. There are often voltage
restrictions in operation which limit the use of high powered items. It is
not possible always to equip houses with air-conditioning or a full central
heating system and it is wrong to expect it - even many of the local people
do not have such items in their own homes. This is common throughout this
region of Italy.
Each property is different - in
each description you will find a few photographs. If a property has a
certain character, we will attempt to convey this with an internal
photograph, showing the owner's taste. This does not necessarily mean that a
property without an internal photograph is in any way inferior, nor does it
mean that all interiors with regard to design and furnishings are of a
similar quality and style.
A number of our properties are actually the owners' main homes and do have
many personal items which add to the holiday feel. We hope you enjoy this
aspect of your Sardinia Accommodation home.
In our descriptions, we strive to convey a truthful overall picture of the
property, and its immediate environment, in the space we have available.
Although we invariably mention features which we feel may be inconvenient,
it is essential that clients satisfy themselves that a particular property
meets their requirements.
This is most important where toddlers are concerned. No house or garden in
our portfolio is suitable for very small children, without supervision! All
our houses are in locations, subject to local movement of traffic and
people, and the usual "hum" of village life, which may include church bells,
dogs barking, and cocks crowing. All our coastal villas will be subject to
the usual "buzz" of other people on holiday, to various degrees, and
dependent on the time of year and setting.
Be adaptable and you will enjoy a different way of life in delightful
surroundings. Try to take "Britain" on holiday with you and you may be
disappointed.
PETS
A few owners will rarely accept pets and it is necessary to verify this in
advance.

BEDS AND BEDROOMS
Unfortunately, we are unable to describe each bed's characteristics and
clients must be prepared to accept that beds will vary in hardness and
softness. Bedrooms may vary in size and amenities.
COUCHES
In some cases couches become put-up beds. Examine your property plan
carefully when considering whether this arrangement is practical for you. If
the couch is in a separate lounge this allows for early-morning use of the
kitchen with minimal disturbance. However a couch in a kitchen/dining room
situation is less practical. We do not use this form of sleeping
accommodation in our calculations for total numbers in a property, except
when indicated in the property description.
WC/SHOWER/BATHROOM
All properties have modern flush toilets and running hot and cold water to
shower/bathroom.
KITCHENS
Kitchens have either a gas or electric cooker. All have a sink with hot and
cold running water, refrigerator, adequate cooking utensils, crockery,
cutlery, glasses and other household equipment to a reasonable standard for
holiday use, and suitable for the maximum number the house is stated to
sleep.
COTS
Cots are available at most properties and conform to E.U. regulations
current at the last inspection. There may be some cots in properties for
decorative purposes which do not meet these standards. |
